The annual Wivenhoe Memories Exhibition this August 27-28-29th.
10 am-6pm all three days, entry is free but any donations to the mayors charity for local good causes in Wivenhoe. refreshments available ,disable access is good with all the usual facilities.

The good old days.

This photo shows the old Rosabelle yacht stores with the white double doors and next door on the right is the Sailors Return pub which opened in 1860 and closed in 1909, so this photo might be c.1900.

A grand building

Wivenhoe hall built c.1560 although a much earlier hall stood here since the 1100's. this was once the home of the De-Vere Family.  It burnt down in 1927.

This brings back a few memories.

One product of the North Sea Canning Company on the Quay at Wivenhoe, they also canned sprats and chickens..
The Canning company was started in Wivenhoe by Mr. Lewis Worsp in 1932. First starting in the old Rosabelle stores on the Quay before expanding and opening his new factory at the port end of the Quay . it is now called Smugglers Wharf.

What a lovely little curch

The old St.Peters Church at Alresford. before it was gutted by fire in 1971.
