We have saved a heroe's resting place in Wivenhoe

This anonymous little headstone in Wivenhoe Churchyard relates to B.C.S, Benjamin Clover Snood who died in 1837.  Benjamin served aboard H.M.S. Swiftsure at the battle of Trafalgar With Admiral Lord nelson, he was an able seaman. The other initials on the headstone are his Wife's Elizabeth Snood.
This headstone has now been moved with the help of the Church Council and Wivenhoe Council to the Falcon wall side of the Churchyard, which i now call the Mariners wall. This was a project that myself and Brian Sinclair took on to save it from destruction,as it was laying flat near the chip shop.

Excellent! It's good to see him being recognised.Chris Goddard (webrarian)
