"I have been chased over that bridge by the train".
Alresford iron swing bridge, completed in 1895. The center section swung open to allow sailing barges up to Alresford Sand works jetty, which is still there.
I am an amateur historian working on a history of movable bridges in the British Isles. I have the swing bridge at the mouth of Alresford Creek on my website www.movablebridges.org.uk. I have just come across your image of the bridge and was wondering if it is possible to add this image to my website. I would of course state the source of the image.
Do you have any other images of the site before of after the bridge was demolished? I live in Devon and rarely travel as far as Essex - even before the current pandemic!
